The Kim Chong Yung Museum was opened in 2002 to honor the artistic spirit of Korean modern sculpture pioneer Kim Chong Yung and provide support to emerging artists. Its focuses are on research, exhibitions, and accurate archiving to preserve Kim’s early accomplishments in contemporary Korean abstract sculpture and Buddhist aesthetic. It also presents the Kim Chong Yung Sculpture Award every other year to inspire younger artists and honor Kim’s legacy as an educator. Its modern architectural aesthetic and beautiful surroundings offer a restful wealth of sights to see, and its archive is stocked with numerous art texts.
