Art Space Pool

Art Space Pool is a nonprofit arts organization that was established in 1999 by a group of twenty artists, curators, critics, theorists, and students with the mission of engaging in alternative forms of experimentation and nurturing an autonomous art culture. Art Space Pool serves as an exhibition venue, arts education organization, and artists’ collective that supports artists, contributes to the discourse on art, and promotes dialogue through exhibitions and educational programs as well as publishing. Art Space Pool is a physical space where the aims of voluntary collective participation by artists, active and action-oriented onsite critiques, and the generation of productive alternatives are carried out through creative production, written criticism, and research and discussion, among other methods. The organizers of Art Space Pool take pride in the role the organization has played in continuing the critical traditions of Korean art.
