CHOIJEONGHWA, 〈Dandelion〉.

National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Cheongju presents 〈Dandelion〉 by CHOIJEONGHWA, the first outdoor project, at the green plaza in front of the museum. This artwork is a huge installation that 9 meters in diameters and 3.8-ton-weight, utilized household goods such as pots and bowls. The artist collected about 7,000 kitchenware in the public art project 〈Gather Together〉 and created the artwork for the exhibition 《MMCA Hyundai Motor Series 2018》. CHOIJEONGHWA shows a colorful array of installation works composed of cheap, disposable products that are familiar from daily life, such as plastic baskets, balloons, etc. He erases the division between high art and popular culture, while invoking a crucial aspect of Korean society. Like the Old Cheongju Tobacco Processing Plant has been transformed into an art museum, 〈Dandelion〉 which is sublimated into art from abandoned everyday object will deliver a message of 'rebirth and hope' to people.
