Hakgojae Gallery is pleased to present works by YOON Hyangro (b. 1986, Seoul) in her solo exhibition, Canvases, on view from August 26th (Wed) to September 27th (Sun), 2020. YOON has built up a distinct oeuvre under the concept she coined as ‘pseudo-painting.’ She focuses on the technological aspect of the production and consumption of contemporary images and converts elements referred from various fields other than art into the language of painting. This exhibition presents YOON’s newest series for the first time. Linking narratives from personal life to art historical references, the exhibition is like a self-portrait of the artist. The abundant narrative and maturity of the technique are noteworthy.
