This exhibition centers squarely on the neoteric conditions of 21st century contemporary art practices. highlights eight painters who manifest the residual effects of ‘untact’ approaches to image making and propose new frameworks for considering an artwork’s context and content, origin and output. By subverting standardized, hierarchical methodologies of firsthand observation in favor of on-demand, screen-based engagement, these artists generate acute distortions and inventive interpretations of visual influences, unmoored from dominant discourses of historicization.
