MMCA presents the exhibition Young Korean Artists 2021 at MMCA Gwacheon. Young Korean Artists 2021 is the 20th exhibition of the MMCA's Young Korean Artists program, which first began in 1981. As it celebrates its 40th anniversay, it has become Korea's most time-honored and authoritative program dedicated to discovering young and emerging artists. The program has introduced emerging artists at the forefront of contemporary art and forecast the future of Korean art over its 40 years of activity.
Approximately 400 emerging artists have been introduced over 20 exhibitons, and among them, Lee Bul and Choi Jeonghwa, featured in 1989, Suh Doho, featured in 1990 ; Moon Kyungwon, featured in 2000; and Lee Hyungkoo, featured 2004, used the program to earn public recognition and evolve into artists representative of Korea.
Young Korean Artists 2021 includes the main exhibition of the emerging artists in Galleries 1 and 2, and an archival exhibition commemorative of the 40th anniversary of the program in the Main Hall.
