Kukje Gallery is presenting a solo exhibition of 《PARK SEO-BO》, from September 16 through October 31, 2021. In this exhibition, a second solo exhibition at Kukje Gallery, 16 recent works from his late-Ecriture series are showcased. The exhibition presents the works that are "simultaneously create a healing space of vivid, colorful paintings inspired by nature, as well as those completed in more subdued colors synonymous with cityscapes."

Park Seo-Bo's Ecriture series can be divided into 3 phases : the early-Ecriture of the 1970s, mid-Ecriture of the 1980s, and late-Ecriture in 2000s. In his early-Ecriture, the artist shows empty canvas through repetitive action while the late-Ecriture seeks unity with nature by creating compositions.These elements consists of three layers of traditional korean paper, which is soaked in water for more than 2 months. He then draws lines with a thick graphite pencil before the surface dries, which result in forming the symmetrical sculptural elements. When the paper dries, the artist adds acrylic paint to the surface drawing the natural scenery that inspires him.

His usage of colors in his works changed to reflect his thoughts. Whereas the artist used black for his primordiallis series to express feelings of anxiety and ambivalence, he used the korean trraditional colors(white, black, blue, yellow, red) in his hereditarius series after his practice relation to the Western geometric abstraction. And for the early-Ecriture series, he used white for reflecting emptiness. And then he used intense, vivid colors after 2000, responding to the face of digital technology. His late-Ecriture paintings were meant to absorbs the viewer's stress and anxiety, as his canvas holds the charactersitics of rhythmic vitality.
