Gallery Hyundai presents a solo exhibition by Ikjoong Kang, The Moon is Rising is open from November 4 to December 11 at the main building and Dugahun gallery. Ikjoong Kang(b.1960) expresses through his work, using moon and moonjar as the most Korean qualities in terms of culture, sentiments, and aesthetic values. Including representative 3-inch canvas works, Kang reveals his thoughts on connecting things that are disconnected from each other on small canvases, wooden frames, and other things.
In the exhibition, presented are his new series The Moon is Rising(2022), he recalled the waning of the moon over the time and the multicolored moonbows that form around the moon due to sunlight reflected off its surface. On the second floor of the exhibition hall, about 30 drawing series The Moon is Rising(2022) are displayed, reinterpreting traditional landscape paintings with the artist's perspective, and new works are shown the harmony between human beings and nature with the theme of mountains and nature. Also, his iconic series Thing I Know(2003-2022) are presented in the basement exhibition hall, where the letters gather to form words and meaningful sentences, which reveals the "connectedness", where individuals come together to form a society and become together in unity.
