Press release
Largest of its kind in the country, Korea Art Week 2017 is a nation-wide art event. It is held yearly with the purpose of “Art in Life”. This year, we have come up with a slogan “Byulbyul Artists (artists of all shades)” in the hopes giving individual artists behind artworks their rightful recognition. To many, art is something still very esoteric to enjoy free access. It can seem too far removed from our everyday experience. By providing a unique angle for viewing artists who are in effect closer to ours lives than a common perception may suggest, we are confident that Korea Art Week 2017 will offer a chance to understand their artworks and exhibitions with heightened clarity.
Korea Art Week 2017 is entirely devoted to the promotion of art exhibitions and events hosted by various institutions in the country and aim to serve as a platform where both experts and art lovers can obtain the information they seek. Just like last year, visitors will receive free admissions and discounts to museums throughout the week. It is intended to lower the bar for the people who do not frequent museums. Particularly in Jeju, the region selected as the “Art City of the Year”, we have anticipated diverse region-specific programs including the Artist as Companion in which the local artists from Jeju will take part.
In the spirit of honoring our goal set by this year’s slogan “Byulbyul Artists”, we have designed a dynamic program to systematically support the creative urges of artists and offer practical aids to them. Our program of participatory learning is scheduled to take place at various venues including the Artist House located at Daehangno and the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul. The program includes Portfolio Consulting Course for Mid-career Artists, Artist Mentoring Course, Legal Counsel Day for Artists, Psychotherapy Sessions for Artists, and several other seminars and workshops that will be hosted by experts in many different fields. Moreover, people who visit Artist House during the event will receive valuable tips regarding art grant applications and welfare programs and can access individualized consultations on demand.
