《Korean Diaspora – Beyond Dispersion》invites 25 overseas Korean artists residing in five different countries: China, Japan, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. The exhibition consists of four sections: Part 1 Memory - History of Dispersion; Part 2 Origin - Roots and Identity; Part 3 Settlement - Another Home; and Part 4 Connection - Beyond Dispersion and Division. The exhibition will bring together works that are intended to call to mind the history of dispersion and explore the roots and identities of those who went abroad; paintings that were produced while adapting themselves to and settling into a new home; and works derived from the pain caused by the division of their motherland and their wish for unification which arouse our sympathy for an emotion all Koreans share. The exhibition is expected to serve as an opportunity to newly perceive the history and meaning of “Korean diaspora” while appreciating pieces by overseas Korean artists. It will be held in Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art(Director, Choi Eunju) in City Ansan, until 25 NOV 2018.
