The Foundation Gallery of Contemporary Art Leipzig (GfZK) and the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony (Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen) offer a scholarship for young curators with good German language skills. The scholarship supports a one-year traineeship at the GfZK, which includes an exchange of content and curatorial experience, as well as getting to know the cultural landscape of Leipzig and Saxony.
The scholarship is endowed with 1,250.00 euros per month and begins on January 1, 2022.
The year at the GfZK offers the opportunity to actively participate in the design of the artistic program. Depending on his or her interests, the scholar can gain insights into the areas of communication, financing, and collection management. In addition, the scholar will develop his or her own project, which will be shown at the GfZK and ideally in the country of origin.
The scholarship for curators is unique within the range of scholarships offered by the
Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony, as it invites young curators from other
countries to spend a year at the GfZK in Leipzig, where they can work in a professional
environment, realize their own topics and project ideas, and network with the Saxon art
scene.
The Museum of Contemporary Art Leipzig is a locally, nationally and internationally
established exhibition house and museum. In interdisciplinary projects of visual and
performing arts, architecture, design, music and literature, the GfZK works together with
artists and interested parties and stands for the linking of artistic and social issues.
We ask all interested parties to send their application digitally to the supervising curator
Julia Schäfer (schaefer@gfzk.de), subject: Kurator:innenstipendium 2022. Your application should include a detailed CV, a motivation letter and a description of your field of interest (no longer than one A4 page).
The application deadline is March 31, 2021.
