MMCA presents the symposium, "WHAT DO MUSEUMS CONNECT? : MUSEUMS IN A POST-PANDEMIC WORLD" on their website from September 14 to September 30.
Due to the pandemic, the symposium can be viewed on their designed website. The video presentations of 10 international speakers with subtitles are available. On the last day of the symposium, there will be a live roundtable where the online participants can join their conversations.
The role of the art museum and its methods in playing a social role have become an important topics especially these days. This symposium will "not only introduces the broadening and variation of museums' approach to mediation, but also offers the very way that museums envision the world and the orientation of experiences." The 10 speakers who are researchers, curators, critics and other professionals will introduce their own perspectives on the roles of museums within their cultural, social, technological contexts.
The symposium consists of 2 sections. In the first section, 'Boundaries Dissolved: Other Variable', the speakers will share critical perspectives on the social and technological contexts of art museums today. The second section, 'New Dimensions : Directions of Practice', introduces different examples of experiments within the aforementioned social contexts. And the roundtable discussion will be broadcast live at 5 p.m. on Thursday, September, 30.
