The Gangwon International Art Exhibition & Folk Art Festival Organizing Committee, a nonprofit organization established to host cultural components of the Gangwon International Biennale, announced that Hong Kyung-han has been appointed as its first art director.

“Hong, appointed through the process of application and judgment, had been approved as art director by the 26th board of directors,” said the committee. “Art Director Hong, who was formerly an art critic, has worked as editor-in-chief at Misulsegye, PublicArt, and Kyunghyang Article magazines.”

The Gangwon International Biennale, an international contemporary art festival, will be held in Il-won, Gangwon-do, in February 2018, concurrently with the commencement of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. The biennale recently changed its name from the PyeongChang Biennale, which had in its inception in 2013, to reflect the PyeongChang Olympic Games becoming a Cultural Olympiad.
