The Art Sonje Center appointed Kim Haeju, an independent curator, as deputy director. This announcement was followed by the naming of Kim Sun-jung, director of the Art Sonje Center, as the president of the Gwanju Biennale Foundation.

New Deputy Director Kim has organized exhibitions and performance programs including Moving / Image (2016), Place and Footnote (2016), The Society of Choreography (2015), The Decisive Moments (2014), Once is Not Enough (2014), and Memorial Park (2013).

Previously, Kim served as an assistant curator at the Nam June Paik Art Center, and then as an academic publication researcher for National Theater Company of Korea after completing the curatorial training program Ecole du Magasin in Grenoble, France.
