posted 20 July 2017

The Korean artist duo Moon Kyungwon and Jeon Joonho have been invited to present commissioned work for Frieze Projects 2017, curated by Raphael Gygax (Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Zurich).

Frieze Projects 2017, a non-profit program of new artist commissions at Frieze London, announced that it will feature eleven artists from eight countries across the world. Marc Bauer, Donna Kukama, Moon Kyungwon and Jeon Joonho, Lucy and Jorge Orta, SPIT! (Carlos Motta, John Arthur Peetz and Carlos Maria Romero), Georgina Starr and Frieze Artist Award-winner Kiluanji Kia Henda will create seven new artworks spanning literature, theatre, design and installation, all connected by a strong performative aspect.

Moon and Jeon, presenting a research project through film and photography, will tell the story of Taesung, known as the “Freedom Village,” an isolated farming community in the Demilitarized Zone between South and North Korea that came into being at the end of the Korean War in 1953. The Freedom Village Project is co-commissioned by Home (Manchester).
