SEOUL, Sept. 11 (Yonhap) -- A plethora of cultural programs are ready to nurture a festive mood as the country will mark the 150-day countdown on Tuesday to the opening of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, the culture ministry said Monday.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has unveiled cultural programs that are currently going on or will open in the coming days as part of the Cultural Olympiad Guide.

From Tuesday, a preview of banner art titled "All Connected" will be on view near Olympic Park, eastern Seoul, until the end of this month. The preview will show some 95 banner art pieces, while the real show will make a tour of 17 cities around the country starting on Nov. 1 with more than 4,000 artworks from professional and amateur artists.

This weekend, 200 poets from South Korea, China and Japan will get together at Alpensia Resort in the host city of PyeongChang, some 180 kilometers east of Seoul, to enhance mutual understanding through literature. A joint photo exhibition by key news agencies from the three countries -- Yonhap, Xinhua and Kyodo -- will continue until Nov. 30 at the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History.

On Sept. 23-24, five major palaces in the capital city of Seoul will hold outdoor music performances where 32 teams will perform around 70 concerts.

Since late August, media art has been screened at the 23-floor facade of Seoul Square, located opposite Seoul Station. The show starts every hour on the hour from 6 p.m. till 10 p.m. and lasts 10 minutes.

A "Media Art Cube" exhibition organized by Lee Lee-nam, one of the country's best media artists, has traveled to Busan and will be shown until Sept. 22. After that, it will be exhibited in Gwangju from Sept. 26 to Oct. 12.

The "World Culture Collage" programs, which will take place in 17 cities in October and November, will invite foreign diplomatic missions in Korea to introduce their unique culture and artists to Koreans to enhance mutual understanding.

And a special art residency program will bring in 23 artists from around the world later this month who will live in the province and create performance and visual art pieces based on their local experiences. The program runs throughout Nov. 4.

The 2018 Winter Olympics will take place mainly in PyeongChang from Feb. 9-25, 2018, but some of the events will also be held in the neighboring city of Gangneung and the county of Jeongseon.
