Ye Seung Lee

Ye Seung Lee received her BFA and MFA in Korean Painting from Ewha Womans University and completed an MA program in Media Art at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Lee’s paintings have been shown in several solo exhibitions, including 《The Green Cabinet》 (Artspace Boan, Seoul, 2014), 《Moving Movements》 (Gallery Chosun, Seoul, 2015) and 《Dongjungdong Jeongjungdong》 (Artside Gallery, Seoul, 2016). She has also participated in a series of group exhibitions, including 《Digital Promenade》 (Seoul Museum of Art, 2018), 《Gaeseong Industrial Complex》 (Culture Station Seoul 284, 2018) and 《The Self-Evolving City》 (Seoul Museum of Art, 2017).
Lee’s latest solo exhibition 《Variable Scape》 (Hyundai Motor Studio Seoul, 2020) was held as part of 《Human (un)limited》, a global collaborative exhibition project jointly carried out by the media art organization Ars Electronica and Hyundai Motor Studio. 《Variable Scape》 displayed works that depict the technological age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution through the prism of mythical Oriental imagination. She has participated in numerous residency programs in Korea and abroad, at institutions including the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul (2011), Seoul Museum of Art (Nanji Residency, 2013-2014), Seoul Art Space Geumcheon (2015), Asia Culture Center (2016) and ZER01NE (2019). Currently a researcher at ZER01NE LAB (2020), Lee is exploring various future scenarios of the technological age.
