Yuni Kwon studied sculpture at the School of Fine Arts of Kookmin University in Korea. After graduation, Kwon moved to the U.S. to study in the Digital + Media department at Rhode Island School of Design. As the artist utilizes media and experimental data graphics to produce abstract and digitized socio-psychological and natural phenomena, she materializes these phenomena and compares them, exploring the meaning of their relationship. Kwon was awarded the UNESCO-Aschberg Bursary in 2014 and presented her works at a number of group exhibitions including 《the 2nd Incheon Peace Art Project Sea of Peace》 at Incheon Art Platform and Incheon Culture and Art Center, Korea, in 2012 and WHITE NOISE in 2010. The artist had worked under the name “Yuni Kwon” until recently, when she began to go by “Ryu Kwon” after the establishment of her own studio. Her English name is still Yuni Kwon.
